Thomas Pablo Croquet, known as Thomas Mars, is a French musician and the lead singer of the French indie pop band Phoenix. Born on 21 November 1976 in Versailles, France, Mars formed the band Phoenix at the age of ten with schoolfriends Chris Mazzalai and Deck d'Arcy. The band's bassist, Deck D'Arcy, revealed in an interview that Mars and he started playing music together when they were around 11 years old. Mars dropped out of college after just four days of studying economics to pursue a career in music. Phoenix, founded in the early 1990s, became Mars' full-time profession and has achieved international success.
