Thomas Jonathan Jackson Ravenel is an American politician and reality television star. Born on August 11, 1962, he is the son of former Representative Arthur Ravenel Jr. from South Carolina. Ravenel gained popularity through his appearances on the Bravo reality-television series Southern Charm, where he starred for five seasons. He also served as the state treasurer of South Carolina for six months and ran as an Independent candidate for the United States Senate in the 2014 election. Additionally, Ravenel ran as a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in the 2004 primary election. Prior to his political career, he founded the Ravenel Development Corporation, a commercial real estate company. Ravenel is also a member of the French Huguenot Church in Charleston.
