Tika Sumpter

Tika Sumpter, born Euphemia LatiQue Sumpter on June 20, 1980, is an American actress and producer. She gained initial recognition as the host of Best Friend's Date and later appeared in the daytime soap opera One Life to Live from 2005 to 2010. Sumpter made her film debut in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (2010) and went on to portray supporting roles in movies such as What's Your Number? (2011), Sparkle (2012), and A Madea Christmas (2013). From 2013 to 2021, she starred as Candace Young in the OWN prime time soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots. Sumpter has also appeared in films like Ride Along (2014), Get on Up (2014), The Old Man & the Gun (2018), and Nobody's Fool (2018). She produced and starred as Michelle Robinson Obama in the biographical drama Southside with You (2016), earning her a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
