Til Schweiger is a German actor and filmmaker, born on December 19, 1963, in Freiburg, West Germany. He grew up in Heuchelheim near Giessen and attended school there. Schweiger started his acting career by taking lessons at Der Keller in Cologne. In 1997, he made his debut as a producer and director with the film Knockin' on Heaven's Door. He went on to direct and produce other successful films like Der Eisbär (The Polar Bear) in 1998 and Barfuss (Barefoot) in 2005, for which he won a Bambi Award. Keinohrhasen (Rabbit Without Ears), released in 2007 and written, produced, and directed by Schweiger, became the highest-grossing German film with a box office result of USD 62,000,000.
