    Tim Minchin is a British-born Australian comedian, actor, writer, musician, poet, composer, and songwriter. He was born on October 7, 1975, in Northampton, United Kingdom, to Australian parents. Minchin attended the University of Western Australia and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts before relocating to Melbourne in 2002. He is most renowned for his musical comedy and has released numerous CDs, DVDs, and performed live comedy shows internationally. Minchin has appeared on television in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He gained widespread recognition with his show Darkside, which received critical acclaim at the 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Additionally, Minchin has a background in theatre and has participated in various stage productions, along with small acting roles on Australian television. A documentary film about his life, Rock N Roll Nerd, was directed by Rhian Skirving.
