Tina Knowles, born Celestine Beyoncé Knowles-Lawson, is an American businesswoman, fashion designer, and philanthropist. She is best known for establishing the brands House of Deréon and Miss Tina by Tina Knowles. Born on January 4, 1954, in Galveston, Texas, Knowles is the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, and was previously married to their father, Mathew Knowles. In 2001, she was honored at the ACE Awards for her contribution to the fashion business. Knowles comes from a family of seven siblings and is of African-American and Louisiana Creole heritage. She was raised Catholic and has roots in Boutte, Louisiana.
