Jacob Christopher "Tito" Ortiz (born January 23, 1975) is a retired American mixed martial artist and former politician. Ortiz gained prominence during his time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he held the Light Heavyweight Championship from April 14, 2000, to September 26, 2003. He was one of the sport's early stars, alongside fighters like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell. Ortiz was the biggest pay-per-view draw of 2006 due to his fights with Liddell, Griffin, and Shamrock. Aside from his fighting career, Ortiz is the CEO of Punishment Athletics MMA equipment and clothing line based in Huntington Beach, California. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2012. Ortiz briefly served as a member of the Huntington Beach City Council, becoming Mayor pro tempore in 2020 before resigning less than six months later.
