Toby Stephens Biography
Toby Stephens (born April 21, 1969) is an English actor known for his appearances in films in the UK, US, and India. He gained recognition for his roles as Bond villain Gustav Graves in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day, William Gordon in the 2005 film Mangal Pandey: The Rising, and Edward Fairfax Rochester in the 2006 BBC television adaptation of Jane Eyre. Stephens starred as Captain Flint in the Starz TV series Black Sails from 2014 to 2017 and played one of the lead roles in the Netflix series Lost in Space from 2018 to 2021. He is set to portray the Greek God Poseidon in the upcoming series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Stephens was born in Fitzrovia, London, to actors Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Robert Stephens. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) after attending Aldro School and Seaford College.
