Tommy Hilfiger

Thomas Jacob Hilfiger (born March 24, 1951) is an American fashion designer and the founder of Tommy Hilfiger Corporation. He co-founded a chain of jeans/fashion stores called People's Place in the 1970s before launching his own menswear line in the 1980s. Hilfiger's collections are known for their preppy style and are often influenced by music subcultures. The company expanded to include women's clothing and luxury items like perfumes. Hilfiger has collaborated with celebrities such as American R&B artist Aaliyah. He gained further recognition when contestants on the reality show The Cut competed for a design job with him. Hilfiger sold his company in 2006, but remains the principal designer for Tommy Hilfiger Corporation.
