Tommy Lasorda Biography
Thomas Charles Lasorda (September 22, 1927 – January 7, 2021) was an American professional baseball pitcher and manager. He played in MLB for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Kansas City Athletics. Lasorda coached for the Dodgers before becoming the team's manager from 1976 to 1996. He led the Dodgers to two World Series championships and was named Manager of the Year in the National League twice. Lasorda's uniform number 2 was retired by the Dodgers. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager in 1997. Lasorda graduated from Norristown High School and began his professional career with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1945.
