Tonantzin Carmelo is an American actress known for her roles in film, TV, and stage productions. She gained recognition for her performance in the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Into the West, which earned her a Screen Actors Guild nomination. In 2021, Carmelo filmed roles for the television series The English (BBC) and La Brea (NBC) in Spain and Australia respectively. Born and raised in Orange County, California, Carmelo is of Indigenous and Latina descent. As a youth, she participated in Native dances and music, touring with cultural groups across North America. She is also a technically trained dancer who performed with the modern dance company Daystar. Carmelo holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Dance from the University of California, Irvine.
