She is best known for her recurring role as Aunt Etta Kibby in the American television series In the Heat of the Night. Stewart was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, and grew up with a passion for acting. In addition to her successful acting career, she was also a dedicated educator, serving as the former dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts of Alabama State University. She was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for her acting in the film A Time to Kill. Stewart's talent and dedication have made her a respected figure in both the entertainment industry and academia.
