Toni Basil

Toni Basil, born Antonia Christina Basilotta on September 22, 1943, is an American singer, choreographer, dancer, actress, and director. She gained international fame with her hit song 'Mickey' which topped the charts in the US, Canada, and Australia, and reached the top ten in other countries. Basil was born in Philadelphia to a father who led an orchestra and a mother who performed in vaudeville. She has Italian ancestry. Raised in Las Vegas, Basil graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1961, where she was a head cheerleader. Her cheerleading experience influenced her dance career, including her iconic 'Mickey' performance. Basil began her professional dancing career in childhood and later ventured into singing, choreography, acting, and directing.
