Tony Curtis Biography
Tony Curtis (born Bernard Schwartz; June 3, 1925 – September 29, 2010) was an American actor whose career spanned six decades. He achieved his first major recognition in the 1950s and early 1960s, appearing in over 100 films of various genres. Some of his notable movies include Sweet Smell of Success (1957), The Defiant Ones (1958), Some Like It Hot (1959), Operation Petticoat (1959), and Spartacus (1960). Curtis received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in The Defiant Ones. In addition to his film work, Curtis made numerous television appearances throughout his career. In his later years, he starred in the true-life drama The Boston Strangler (1968).
