Tracy Brabin

Tracy Lynn Brabin, born on May 9, 1961, is a British politician and former actress. She currently serves as the first Mayor of West Yorkshire since May 10, 2021. Brabin represented the Batley and Spen constituency in the UK Parliament from 2016 to 2021 as a member of the Labour and Co-operative party. Before entering politics, she had a successful career in acting and television writing, appearing in popular British soap operas such as Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Casualty, and Emmerdale. Brabin gained national attention when she was elected in a by-election following the tragic murder of the previous MP, Jo Cox. She has held various positions within the Labour Party, including Shadow Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and currently serves as Shadow Minister for Cultural Industries.
