Tru Collins

Tru Collins is an American actress and indie-pop singer. She is best known for her role as Julie in the MTV original high school comedy, Awkward. Collins was born in Richmond, Virginia, to television journalist Reid Collins and choreographer Lindy Fisher. She attended Manhattan's Professional Performing Arts School and studied classical piano and ballet. Collins received a songwriting scholarship from Universal and studied at New York University and The New School. In addition to her role on Awkward, she has guest starred on Showtime's Masters of Sex and appeared in the indie film Spring Awakening. Collins has also appeared in TV series such as Insecure and Vida. As a singer, she has performed with Grammy-winning artists.
