Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson, born on May 16, 1969, is an American conservative political commentator, writer, internet, television personality, and journalist. He is best known for hosting the nightly political talk show Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 to 2023. Prior to his time at Fox News, Carlson had a diverse media career. He began writing for The Weekly Standard and other publications in the 1990s. From 2000 to 2005, he worked as a commentator for CNN and co-hosted the prime-time news debate program Crossfire. He then hosted the nightly program Tucker on MSNBC from 2005 to 2008. Carlson joined Fox News in 2009 as a political analyst before eventually launching his own show. In addition to his work in television, Carlson co-founded The Daily Caller, a right-wing news and opinion website, in 2010 and served as its initial editor-in-chief until 2020. Throughout his career, he has written three books, including Politicians, Partisans, and Parasites (2003).
