    Tyron Woodley (born April 7, 1982) is an American professional mixed martial artist and professional boxer. He is a former UFC Welterweight Champion, having successfully defended his title four times. Woodley started his professional career in 2009 and has also competed in Strikeforce. Before his MMA career, Woodley was an accomplished collegiate wrestler, earning All-American honors and winning the Big 12 Conference championship while representing the Missouri Tigers. Born and raised in Ferguson, Missouri, Woodley overcame adversity after his father left the family and went on to become a standout athlete in high school, winning the Missouri 4A State Wrestling Championship in 2000.
