Val Avery Biography
Val Avery, born Sebouh Der Abrahamian, was an American character actor known for his appearances in over 100 films and 300 television episodes. Born in Philadelphia to Armenian parents, Avery began acting in plays with the Armenian Youth Federation before serving in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He later attended the Bessie V. Hicks School of Drama in Philadelphia. Avery was often cast in tough or low-class roles, portraying characters such as policemen, thugs, mobsters, bartenders, and blue-collar workers. He had notable television roles in The Twilight Zone and appeared in numerous movies and TV shows throughout his 50-year career.
