Valerie Plame is an American writer, spy novelist, and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer. Born on August 13, 1963, she gained national attention as the subject of the 2003 Plame affair, also known as the CIA leak scandal. Plame's identity as a CIA officer was leaked to and published by Robert Novak of The Washington Post. In the aftermath of the scandal, Richard Armitage and Scooter Libby were implicated, with Libby being convicted of lying to investigators. Plame authored a memoir in collaboration with a ghostwriter, recounting her career and the events leading up to her public exposure as a CIA officer.
