Vanessa Vanjie

Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, also known as Miss Vanjie or simply Vanjie, is the stage name of José Luis Cancel, an American drag performer of Puerto Rican descent. She gained widespread recognition as a contestant on the tenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, where she placed fifth. Since then, Vanjie has appeared in various spin-offs of the show, including RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race, RuPaul's Drag Race: Vegas Revue, Canada's Drag Race, and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. Prior to her Drag Race journey, Vanjie started doing drag as a backup dancer for Alexis Mateo, a former contestant on Drag Race season three and All Stars. Despite being eliminated in the first episode of her season, Vanjie left a lasting impression with her iconic exit, repeating her name while walking backward off the stage.
