Vernon Dobtcheff Biography
Vernon Dobtcheff, born on August 14, 1934, is a British actor of Russian descent. He is well-known for his roles in television and film, as well as numerous stage productions. Dobtcheff attended Ascham Preparatory School in Eastbourne, Sussex, England, where he won the Acting Cup. In 1967, he appeared in an episode of The Avengers titled 'The Living Dead.' Notably, he portrayed the Chief Scientist in the Doctor Who series 'The War Games' in 1969, becoming the first actor to mention the Time Lords by name. Dobtcheff has also appeared in films like 'The Day of the Jackal' (1973), 'Murder on the Orient Express' (1974), 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977), 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (1989), and 'Before Sunset' (2004).
