Vicki Lawrence (born March 26, 1949) is an American actress, comedian, and singer. She gained fame for her character Mama (Thelma Harper) on CBS's The Carol Burnett Show from 1967 to 1978. The success of The Family skits led to Lawrence's own sitcom, Mama's Family, where her character became the focal point. Lawrence has hosted the untelevised stand-up comedy routine, 'Vicki and Mama: A Two Woman Show,' since 2001. She has made numerous guest TV show appearances as Mama. In 1973, Lawrence had a one-hit wonder with 'The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia,' which reached number one on the charts in the United States and Canada.
