Vincenzo Amato Biography
Vincenzo Amato is an Italian actor and sculptor born on March 30, 1966, in Palermo. He is the son of stage director and folk musician Emma Muzzi Loffredo. After completing high school, Amato moved to Rome, where his mother resided. While always dedicated to painting, he studied iron sculpting in university. He gained recognition as an artist with successful exhibitions at the Earl McGrath Gallery in New York, where he moved to after leaving Rome. It was in the US that he met director Emanuele Crialese, who cast him in his debut film Once We Were Strangers. Amato's breakthrough role came in Crialese's Respiro as the fisherman Pietro. He received a David di Donatello nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Nuovomondo in 2007.
