Viola Davis, born on August 11, 1965, is an American actress and producer. She is known for being one of the few performers to have achieved the prestigious EGOT status, winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award. Davis holds the distinction of being the sole African-American to accomplish the Triple Crown of Acting and is the third person overall to achieve both statuses. In 2012 and 2017, Time magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. The New York Times also ranked her as the ninth greatest actor of the 21st century in 2020. Davis started her career in Central Falls, Rhode Island, performing in small stage productions. She later attended the Juilliard School and received an Obie Award in 1999 for her role in Everybody's Ruby. Davis has appeared in various film and television projects, garnering critical acclaim and earning accolades for her performances.
