Walter Gretzky

Walter Gretzky (October 8, 1938 – March 4, 2021) was a Canadian philanthropist and the father of ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. As an avid hockey player in his youth, Walter built a backyard rink for his children and coached Wayne from a young age, providing him with valuable insights and advice. He was known for his creative exercises and drills, teaching Wayne to anticipate the puck's movement and skate to where it was going. Walter was actively involved in minor hockey in Canada and dedicated his time to various local, provincial, and national charities. He was honored for his contributions to the sport and philanthropy.
