Walter Kingsford Biography
Walter Kingsford (born Walter Pearce; 20 September 1881 – 7 February 1958) was an English actor known for his work on stage, film, and television. Born in Redhill, Surrey, England, Kingsford began his acting career in London before making a successful transition to Broadway. He appeared in numerous plays, ranging from George Bernard Shaw's Fanny's First Play to Song of Norway. In the early 1920s, Kingsford was a member of the Henry Jewett Players. He later moved to Hollywood, California, where he established himself as a prolific supporting actor in films. He specialized in playing authoritative figures such as noblemen, heads of state, doctors, police inspectors, and lawyers. Kingsford is best remembered for his role as Dr. P. Walter Carew in the popular Dr. Kildare film series. In addition to his film work, Kingsford also made several television appearances in the 1950s, including TV Reader's Digest, Command Performance, and Science Fiction Theatre.
