Walter Kreye
Walter Kreye (born 18 July 1942) is a German actor known for his work in film and television. He was born in Oldenburg and is the son of radio editor and writer Walter A. Kreye. After graduating from Bochum Drama School, Kreye had theater engagements at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, the Thalia Theater, and the Stuttgart State Theater. In the 1980s, he gained popularity through his appearances in television series such as Ein Fall für zwei, Praxis Bülowbogen, Der Fahnder, and Tatort. Kreye won the silver Grimme-Preis in 1990 for his performance in Reporter. He is best known for his role as chief inspector Rolf Herzog in the crime series The Old Fox, which he took over in 2007. In addition to his television work, Kreye appeared in the Netflix series Dark in 2017. Kreye is married to actress Sabine Wegner and has three children. In 2011, he took a break from performing due to a diagnosis of colon cancer but later returned after his recovery.
