    Westley Watende Omari Moore, born on October 15, 1978, is an American politician, investment banker, author, nonprofit executive, and former television producer. He currently serves as the 63rd governor of Maryland since 2023. Moore was born in Maryland but primarily raised in New York. He holds a degree from Johns Hopkins University and a master's degree from Wolfson College, Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. After serving in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, Moore pursued a career in investment banking in New York. He has authored five books, including a young adult novel, and served as the CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation. Moore has hosted TV shows like Beyond Belief on the Oprah Winfrey Network and produced and wrote for Coming Back with Wes Moore on PBS. He is a member of the Democratic Party and emerged victorious in the 2022 Maryland gubernatorial election against Republican nominee Dan Cox.
