William Duell Biography
William Duell (1923-2011) was an American actor and singer known for his roles in the musical 1776, the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and the TV series Police Squad!. With a Shakespearean background, Duell had a successful career as a character actor, appearing in numerous plays, films, and TV shows. His last work was a cameo in the 2003 film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Born in Corinth, New York, Duell's name was legally changed to Darwin William Duell by his mother. However, he always went by his middle name, William. Duell graduated from Green Mountain Junior College, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Yale University.
