William Jackson Harper, born William Fitzgerald Harper on February 8, 1980, is an American actor and playwright. He gained recognition for his role as Chidi Anagonye on the NBC comedy series The Good Place (2016–2020), earning a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2022, Harper took on a lead role in the comedy mystery series The Resort. He also appeared as Quaz in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Harper, originally from Dallas, Texas, attended Lakeview Centennial High School and graduated from the College of Santa Fe in 2003. He adopted the stage name William Jackson Harper to honor his mother's maiden name.
