William Stanford Davis

William Stanford Davis (born August 7, 1952) is an American actor best known for his role as school custodian Mr. Johnson on the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary (2021–present). He gained recognition for his performance, earning a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 54th NAACP Image Awards. Davis began his career with a minor role on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful in 1995. He has since appeared in recurring roles on the Showtime series Ray Donovan and the Apple TV+ series Swagger. Davis was born and raised in The Ville, St. Louis, Missouri, and attended an all-Black elementary school before transitioning to an integrated school in fifth grade. He graduated from Northwest High School and attended Lincoln University.
