Wilson Cruz

Wilson Cruz (born Wilson Echevarría; December 27, 1973) is an American actor known for his roles in popular TV shows such as My So-Called Life, Star Trek: Discovery, and Noah's Arc. Cruz gained recognition for portraying the character of Rickie Vasquez on My So-Called Life and later as Dr. Hugh Culber on Star Trek: Discovery. He has also made appearances as the recurring character Junito on Noah's Arc. As an openly gay man of Afro-Puerto Rican descent, Cruz has been an advocate for gay youth, particularly those from minority backgrounds. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Puerto Rican parents, Cruz faced challenges when he came out as gay to his family, but eventually, they reconciled. He moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career and has been open about his sexuality throughout his journey.
