Yara Martinez

Yara Martinez is an American television actress, born in Puerto Rico on August 31, 1979. She is best known for her roles as Kelly in Hollywood Heights and as Dr. Luisa Alver on The CW series Jane the Virgin. Martinez was raised in Miami and practiced ballet for ten years before pursuing acting. She is the grandniece of prima ballerina Alicia Alonso. Martinez started her career with guest-starring roles and had a supporting role in the film The Hitcher (2007). She has had a number of guest and recurring roles on dramatic series, including Southland, The Lying Game, and Nashville. Martinez was also a regular cast member on Hollywood Heights and starred in the Amazon comedy series, Alpha House.
