Yrsa Daley-Ward

Yrsa Daley-Ward (born 1989) is an English writer, model, and actor. She gained recognition for her debut book, Bone, as well as for her spoken-word poetry and being an 'Instagram poet'. In 2018, she published her memoir, The Terrible, which won the PEN/Ackerley Prize in 2019. Daley-Ward co-wrote Black Is King, Beyoncé's musical film and visual album that accompanies the 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift. Born to a Jamaican mother and Nigerian father in Chorley, Lancashire, she grew up under the care of her devout Seventh-day Adventist grandparents. Prior to her writing career, Daley-Ward worked as a model for notable brands such as Apple, Topshop, Estée Lauder, and Nike.
