Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzeziński (1928–2017), also known as Zbig, was a Polish-American diplomat and political scientist. He served as a counselor to President Lyndon B. Johnson from 1966 to 1968 and was President Jimmy Carter's National Security Advisor from 1977 to 1981. Brzezinski was a prominent figure in the realist school of international relations and was known for his geopolitical analysis. He played a key role in major foreign policy events such as the normalization of relations with China, signing the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty with the Soviet Union, and brokering the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel. Brzezinski was also a primary organizer of The Trilateral Commission.
