Zubin Mehta
Zubin Mehta (born 29 April 1936) is an Indian conductor of Western classical music. He is known for his work as the music director emeritus of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) and the conductor emeritus of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Mehta's musical education began under his father, the founder of the Bombay Symphony Orchestra. He later enrolled at the Vienna state music academy, where he graduated with a diploma in conducting. Mehta gained international recognition by winning competitions and conducting renowned orchestras such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. He served as the music director of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra from 1961 to 1967 and the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1962 to 1978, becoming the youngest music director for a major North American orchestra. Mehta also held the position of Music Adviser to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969, eventually becoming its Music Director in 1981.
