Emancipation

Emancipation is a historical action film loosely inspired by the self-emancipation of 'Whipped Peter.' Will Smith portrays an enslaved man who flees toward Baton Rouge in the 1860s, traversing swamps while hunted by slave catchers led by Ben Foster. The film references the notorious 1863 photograph of a scourged back.
