Love & Friendship

Love & Friendship is a period comedy film written and directed by Whit Stillman. The film is based on Jane Austen's epistolary novel Lady Susan and follows Lady Susan Vernon's clever and strategic attempts to secure wealthy husbands for herself and her daughter. With the help of her intelligence and charm, Lady Susan navigates through a web of rumors and complications, encountering two young men, Reginald DeCourcy and Sir James Martin, who complicate her plans. Premiering at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, Love & Friendship received critical acclaim for its witty and delightful portrayal of the 18th-century social scene.
