Anxious adolescent Anna is sent to relatives in Hokkaido's Kushiro wetlands for health reasons. She discovers an abandoned mansion and meets Marnie, an enigmatic girl who asks for secrecy. Over the summer Anna's relationship with Marnie prompts revelations about her family background and adoption, reshaping her understanding of her past.
