Adam Arkin (born August 19, 1956) is an American actor and director. He is best known for his role as Aaron Shutt on the television series Chicago Hope. Arkin has received numerous award nominations, including a Tony for Best Actor in 1991, three Primetime Emmys, four SAG Awards for ensemble acting in Chicago Hope, and a DGA Award for directing. He won a Daytime Emmy in 2002 for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Special. Arkin has also appeared in other notable television shows such as Monk, Life, Northern Exposure, Sons of Anarchy, and 8 Simple Rules. He comes from an acting family, with his father Alan Arkin and brother Matthew also being actors.
