Adam Silver (born April 25, 1962) is an American lawyer and sports executive, currently serving as the fifth commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He joined the NBA in 1992 and worked his way up through various positions, eventually becoming chief operating officer and deputy commissioner under David Stern. Silver assumed the role of commissioner in 2014. Under his leadership, the NBA has experienced significant economic and global growth, particularly in China. Notably, Silver played a key role in the forced sale of the Los Angeles Clippers and the lifetime ban of Donald Sterling from all NBA games and events. Silver was born into a Jewish-American family and grew up in Rye, New York.
