Alexa Karolinski

Alexa Karolinski (born 1984) is a German writer, director, and producer known for her work in music videos, commercials, film, and television. She received an MFA in Social Documentary Film from The School of Visual Arts in NYC. Her break-out film, 'Oma & Bella', a documentary about her grandmother and her grandmother's best friend, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. The film follows the two survivors as they go about their daily routines, discussing their experiences. Karolinski's second feature documentary, 'Lebenszeichen' (Signs of Life), explores the different ways Jews and gentiles in Germany ritualize their historical burden. In 2020, she gained widespread recognition as the creator of the television drama 'Unorthodox'.
