Amy Tan
Amy Tan is an American author of Chinese heritage, known for her best-selling novel The Joy Luck Club (1989), which was adapted into a film in 1993. Born on February 19, 1952, in Oakland, California, Tan is the second of three children of Chinese immigrants John and Daisy Tan. In addition to The Joy Luck Club, Tan has written other novels such as The Kitchen God's Wife (1991), The Hundred Secret Senses (1995), and The Valley of Amazement (2013). She has also written children's books like The Moon Lady (1992) and Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat (1994), which was turned into an animated series on PBS. Tan's latest work is a memoir titled Where The Past Begins: A Writer's Memoir (2017).
