Andrew Maurice Gold (August 2, 1951 – June 3, 2011) was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He played a significant role in shaping the pop/soft rock sound of the 1970s in Los Angeles. Gold had success both as a solo artist and as a collaborator. He achieved U.S. top 40 hits with songs like 'Lonely Boy' (1977) and 'Thank You for Being a Friend' (1978), and a UK top five hit with 'Never Let Her Slip Away' (1978). In the 1980s, Gold formed the duo Wax with Graham Gouldman of 10cc. Throughout the 1990s, he produced, composed, and performed tracks for various films, commercials, and television soundtracks, including the theme song for the sitcom Mad About You, called 'Final Frontier'.
