Anna Massey (11 August 1937 – 3 July 2011) was an English actress. She gained recognition for her BAFTA Award-winning role as Edith Hope in the 1986 TV adaptation of Anita Brookner's novel Hotel du Lac. Massey is also known for her performance as Babs Milligan in Alfred Hitchcock's 1972 film Frenzy. Born in Thakeham, Sussex, Massey came from a renowned acting family, with her parents being British actress Adrianne Allen and Canadian-born Hollywood actor Raymond Massey. Her brother, Daniel Massey, was also an actor. Despite having no formal training, Massey made her stage debut at the age of 17 and went on to have a successful acting career.
