    Barbara Elaine Smith, professionally known as B. Smith, was an American restaurateur, model, author, businesswoman, and television host. Born on August 24, 1949, in Everson, Pennsylvania, Smith grew up in Scottdale and attended Southmoreland High School. In the mid-1960s, she began her modeling career and became the first African-American model to be featured on the cover of Mademoiselle magazine in 1976. Smith also made two appearances on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Throughout her career, she achieved success as a restaurateur, authoring several cookbooks, and hosting her own television show. Smith passed away on February 22, 2020.
