Barbara Sukowa Biography
Barbara Sukowa (born 2 February 1950) is a German actress, singer, and stage performer. She is recognized for her collaborations with renowned directors Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Margarethe von Trotta. Sukowa gained fame for her role in the West German miniseries Berlin Alexanderplatz, directed by Fassbinder. She received her first German Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in his drama film Lola. Sukowa also starred in Marianne and Juliane, directed by von Trotta, earning her another German Film Award and Venice Film Festival Award for Best Actress. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades, including three German Film Awards for Best Actress, three Bavarian Film Awards, and the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress.
