Born on September 25, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts, Walters began her career in journalism in the 1960s as a writer and researcher for NBC News. She is best known for her work as a co-host on the morning show 'Today' from 1964 to 1976, as well as for her role as the first female co-anchor of the evening news program 'ABC World News Tonight'. Walters gained further fame as the creator, co-host, and executive producer of the talk show 'The View', which she hosted from 1997 to 2014. Over her illustrious career, Walters has interviewed numerous influential figures, becoming one of the most recognized and respected journalists in the industry.
