Bette Ford, born Harriet Elizabeth Dingeldein on June 24, 1927, is a retired American actress and model. She gained recognition as the first American woman to fight on foot in the Plaza México, the world's largest bullfight arena. After moving to New York at 18, Ford married actor David Ford, though the marriage ended after nine months. She later married John Meston, an American radio and television writer known for co-creating Gunsmoke. Ford is currently married to Scott Wolkoff, who is two decades younger. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, she and her brother were raised by relatives due to parental abandonment. Ford began her career as a model and actress in New York after graduating from high school in 1945.
